The back slats are the first slats to make. Prepare the back slats by using the patterns for the top edges as shown in the diagram on page 41, then band saw the shapes. Both back and seat slats should have their top edges rounded over using a 1⁄4” roundover bit in a router mounted in a router table. Fan out the back pieces in their proper order to make sure you rout the correct edges.
Should you decide you don’t like the color of this chair, you could consider painting it, but then you’ll have to maintain the paint. Should you want to paint, start with a high-quality exterior primer, and follow an exterior paint like Benjamin Moore’s Regal Select Low Lustre. Be sure you remove all the steel fasteners before you paint, as you don’t want to get paint on the fasteners. .

Teak: Teak is one of the most durable hardwoods on the market. A special oil found in the heartwood gives it the strength and durability to last a good 60 to 70 years. Even in weather conditions that swing from hot to cold and wet to dry, teak won’t split, rot, or crack. You will need to apply a sealant each year, but that’s it for upkeep. This popular wood comes at a high price, but you can leave it outside for years, and it will still provide a beautiful, relaxing surface on which to sit.
Our price is lower than the manufacturer's "minimum advertised price." As a result, we cannot show you the price in catalog or the product page. Being in the Beach area of Toronto, Bear Chairs are not uncommon on front porches. Maybe it’s just me, but I find that certain areas of the city dictate landscaping and curb acceptability. What goes as acceptable in one area, may not be perceived as in good taste in another. So although “Bear Chairs” on porches in the Beach are the norm, I haven’t seen many in Leaside, North Toronto, or the West End. In our area, these chairs are quite common on verandas and porches.
If the arrangement is to decide on a lightweight and agreeable choice, poly stumbles or solid reused plastic are decent decisions. It looks simply like wood with a characteristic completion and is mainstream with the cutting edge client.
Try the gorilla clear glue in gel form. Let it cure for a couple of days. You can use the blue painter's tape to hold it together if needed.
