They also need much less care than wooden furniture, as you do not need to varnish or refinish them every year. On the downside, resin furniture cannot be left out on hot days for very long, as this can cause the material to melt. It can also become very hot, which is not a positive thing in a chair. In addition, resin is not a traditional material for Adirondack furniture, and it may be hard to produce the home-spun effect of Adirondack in a plastic chair. While purchasing ready-made resin furniture can be expensive, getting together the kit to construct your own resin chair could turn out to be very costly.
Also, to make maintenance easy, this chair features a zipper function, which helps you to remove the cushion cover for cleaning easily. .
Keeping an Adirondack chair clean is pretty easy. Spend some time every week rinsing it down with warm soapy water and a garden hose. You can also add a few drops of dishwashing liquid detergent to help break down stains faster if you feel like it might be necessary. If you are using wooden Adirondack chairs, you may need to do some refinishing after a few years of usage if you want it to look very new as you bought from the market.

2) Portability and Size— From the other reviews I knew that these were not really portable even though they are called “folding”. I also knew that these weren’t the full size Adirondack chairs. However, I was surprised at how small they really are. My spouse is 6’5” so this is an issue. While he can sit in it, it is more uncomfortable for him. I should have gotten the full size even though it would have been more expensive.
What about vinyl lawn chairs. Still strong but look weathered any idea if I could paint these?

The Adirondack chair gets its name from the Adirondack Mountain range in upstate New York. One legend speculates that the name was chosen for the chair because guests of a convalescent home for tuberculosis patients in the Adirondack Mountains enjoyed sitting in the chair to take in the therapeutic fresh mountain air.
The verdict is that I would buy the polywood again. It is sturdy and durable. However, the design of the chair itself is not good. I ordered two of these and I had them put together in less than 45 minutes on my own! I am not handy at all so that should tell you something. They included a T handle hex key that is way better than those awful tools most companies put in their kits. Awesome chair and I couldn't be happier.
After settling on a design, he hired a local Westport Carpenter named Harry Bunnell to make a set of the chairs. Impressed by the design, Bunnell saw the commercial potential and began selling the chairs to Westport’s other visitors. Unfortunately, he… forgot… to ask Thomas Lee’s permission to sell the chairs. Bunnell filed for a patent on the design, and received one in 1905, despite not actually designing the chair. Bunnell sold the “Westport chairs”, made of Hemlock, for the next 20 years. Typically he would paint them green or brown, and he sold them directly to buyers.
