Do you have any idea as to whether they would hold two for you if you called and they had them?
Love your idea and the color! Went out and bought the exact same color (satin lagoon). I scrubbed my 2 chairs with a brush and used the hose to rinse and let them dry for hours before painting. Ran out of paint before finishing my second chair. Had to wait about 2-3 weeks to finish a little bit of touch up on 1st chair (due to back problems). I waited at least 3 weeks before even thinking about sitting on it. I also kept it in the garage for several days to dry right after spraying it (so it wouldn’t get rained on). I used an old towel to dry off the raindrops and noticed blue paint! Now I’m afraid to let anyone sit on it. I didn’t use primer. Any suggestions? .
Essentially, this chair is built from the ground up so the first pieces required are the two side members that slope back from the front, vertical legs. Use the pattern to trace their shape on the stock, then cut them out using the band saw. Abram suggested we nail the two sides together at the ends in the waste material and stack cut them both to save some time. Then we drum-sanded the sawn edges to smooth the surface.
Just bought four of these type of chair after doing a couple months of research into them (after seeing one for very cheap at Costco). Bought during the Memorial Day sale, buy 3 get one free, with free shipping. That sale seems to be over, but they still have a "special". They're not cheap, but are very comfortable, we like that the version we bought fold up nicely, and they have a relatively very long 20 yr residential warranty. We're expecting them to last for years.
Over time, the design has been tweaked and improved upon. Often contemporary Adirondack chairs will feature a seashell style rounded back, and a sloping seat base for comfort. These modifications were originally the idea of Irving Wolpin, who redesigned the chair in 1938 and also received a patent on it.
What about using a clear coat afterwards? Maybe if you do that the color won’t wipe off. What do you think Corey?
