Attach the legs with the carriage bolts, heads to the outside. When tightening the nuts, prevent the head from turning by first seating the bolt head with a hammer blow, engaging the square corners underneath the head in the wood.
I should mention that a few people have reported that the chalky residue didn’t go away after they painted their chairs –– no good. Honestly, I can’t say why some work and some don’t — it may be the material made to make the chair??? My best advice is to try this with one chair and see how it turns out before proceeding with the rest so you don’t waste your time and money. .

1) Wood vs “Polywood” plastic— I was surprised at how much the polywood just felt like cheap plastic. However, it has held up over the summer really well as it still looks brand new. So I would buy the polywood/synthetic plastic again over wood.
The design of this chair may maybe bad for anyone with a back problem because they may find it difficult to get out of the chair. To correct this problem, there are modern Adirondack chairs with high seating area for those with this kind of problem to enjoy the suiting comfort if Adirondack chair.
It looks like there's not that much surface for glue to hold. How about adding a splint (or tape?) of some kind across the back?
