WebstaurantStore Food Service Help WebstaurantStore TV Polywood Adirondack Assembly Begin by unfolding the chair assembly as shown. You may find it helpful to loosen the bolts in the pivot spacer to make unfolding the assembly easier. Next, attach the seat to the front legs using (2) 1 7/8" bolts, (2) 1/4" washers, and (2) 1/4" nylock nuts. Tighten with a 7/16" wrench and the provided 4mm T-handle hex key. For quicker assembly you can use a drill and a 4mm hex bit instead of the provided hex key. Finally, insert the adirondack pins into the seat of the chair. You can use a soft mallet to tap the pins into place. If you loosened the bolts in the pivot spacer before step 1, go ahead and tighten those at this time. If you have any questions or need any additional support, please feel free to contact us.
Assembly is not terribly difficult, but you should have a drill handy, and an extra set of hands is always helpful. The instructions are decent, but those who are unfamiliar with putting together furniture may have a difficult time.
The Trex Outdoor Furniture Cape Cod line of Folding Adirondack chairs is similar in design to the Polywood chairs above, though with a little bit sleepier and more classic design.
Adirondack chairs were first invented in 1903 by Thomas Lee. The first Adirondack chair was made of wood but with time a lot of changes have been made to these chairs. Wood has now been replaced by lighter and easy maintenance plastic and resin. The resin is produced by plants (called natural resin) or industrially produced (synthetic resin) and is popularly being used as an alternative to wood furniture all over the world.

How did your clean time resin before spray painting? I’ve been trying to get this done for over a year. I’m using a nice Mediterranean Blue, think Greece.
In the late 1800s, the Adirondack Mountains were fast becoming a popular location for retreat among the wealthy of New York City. The publishing of Adventures in the wilderness; or Camp-Life in the Adirondacks by William H.H. Murray, spurred on the tourists. Willliam H. H. Murray is identified as the founder of the Outdoor Movement, and wrote the book for those who, “pent up in narrow offices and narrower studies, weary of the city’s din, long for a breath of mountain air and the free life by field and flood.” This book started the trend among city dwellers to vacation in the country.

Much nicer, right? But it was like putting lipstick on a pig. Paint made them look pretty, but they were still wobbly and rickety. I think we got our money’s worth out of those crappy old Adirondack chairs and now its time for something a bit sturdier and better.

I love spray paint!! I do wish there were a wider range of colors. I’ve learned to do several very light coats to avoid drips.
Looking for durable outdoor furniture that will last? I have searched high and low and finally found POLYWOOD recycled outdoor furniture – made with recycled plastic but with the look of real wood.
