Hi Robin! I found the spray paint at Home Depot. Each color seems to come in a different finish though, so it can be tricky. Let me know if you have more questions.

Assembly is simple: screw in the two bolts on the sides, and insert the pegs into the sides. Voila, Adirondack chair ready for sitting! To fold the chair up, remove the pegs and you’re done.
If such a person has a spine or back problem, then it will be difficult for such a person to get out of an Adirondack chair without help. But for an able and agile person, then this is not a problem.

It looks like there's not that much surface for glue to hold. How about adding a splint (or tape?) of some kind across the back?
The "plastic welding with heat" option seems the most likely to be successful to me.
