Some types of outdoor furniture, such as the simple, stackable patio chairs with the slightly wobbly legs, are usually made with polypropylene; look for a Resin Identification Code [RIC] number (5) in a triangle on the underside of the furniture. In general, number (5) plastics are sometimes accepted for recycling, but the size and shape of the plastic furniture still usually prohibits it from being recycled curbside.
The chair is easy to assemble and sturdy when assembled. One person can do it without any technical know-how. The chair requires little to no maintenance, and it a good complement to any porch or patio area. .

We attached the arm brackets first. The top, or wide part of the bracket, is positioned flush with the top of the leg and centered on the leg’s width. Clamp each one in place then drill and countersink for the upper screw in each bracket. Repeat for the lower screw but use a shorter, 11⁄4” screw.

Wood is how it started. And when maintained well, wooden Adirondack chairs look graceful and pretty. But in reality, the maintenance of these chairs is not that easy. They chip, they fade and they rust. That’s where resin comes in. The resin is better than wood when it comes to being weather and stain resistant. But poly resin is even better. It is a mixture of resin and recycled wood and is environmentally friendly, more durable and long lasting.

Thanks for the info, Corey. I didn’t use primer either and I feel like I used quite a bit of paint. I tried to use a sweeping motion while spraying and I was worried about using too much, but since you mentioned using a thick coat, I guess I didn’t use too much (even though I used more than one can).

O’K I want to be sitting there! I too have dreamed of set like that & having a croquet set near by helps finish the vision. To see the trees in bloom what a beautiful setting. A set of Adirondack Side Table/Chairs would look awesome in my new backyard next to the grill patio and screened in porch.
    4) Durable – POLYWOOD survived Hurricane Sandy! Yes, my friend’s good friend couldn’t believe they were still looking good as new after Sandy devastated their beach house.

Regardless of whether the decision is a wooden chair or the plastic form, purchasers are probably going to discover precisely what they need by following this basic purchasing guide.
Then decided I would keep them anyway only to find after unboxing all to assemble them 3 of 4 came with a wrong bar and could not be assembled. 3 hours of my life wasted dealing with them and I still need to go to UPS to return them Very small compared to my older real wood Adirondacks. For the price I would have expected a larger chair. Good size for me and my children but not for my husband. It's a great looker, nice design beautiful color. However the workmanship is a bit meh. Pieces initially didn't fit correctly, but once you sit on it, it came into place. A bit more desirable to have the gaps and edge roughness be more fine tuned. Comfort is like wood. Feels soft and enough resistance. I read some people complaining about how the seats aren't "adult" sized. I am 6'2 and fits fine. So I don't know what size those people are. A cushion will help soften the hard feel but I am plenty happy with it 4.0 out of 5 stars Great but just minor flaws By CoopaPple on April 14, 2021 It's a great looker, nice design beautiful color. Simple repair: Drill a 3/8 inch hole at about the same distance to either side of the split and use a nylon wire tie (zip tie) to hold the split together. If the split is long, you might want to use a few parallel wire ties. The wire ties will last a season or two before they break, and will need replacement.

We next reviewed the chair plans, one of those famous “measured drawr-ings” Abram offers viewers at the conclusion of each show. This copy had some notes about minor modifications Abram intended as improvements. The last thing we did before cutting wood was review several templates he made for the original chair and saved throughout the years. We used these patterns for the curved parts. Drawings for these are included as part of the project plans presented here.

Set up the two sides on the bench and first attach the lower rear crosspiece. When that’s in place, turn the work over and fasten the front crosspiece. Use a pair of screws for each connection placing them about 3⁄4” from the edges of the board.

Maintenance is pretty practically non-existent! Just wash the chairs with soap and water, or a power wash if you have a power washer. Use a mild detergent to get off any persnickety stains.
